Music is about transferring emotion and creating experience.
It’s sound tracking life’s moments. In music, the whole is far greater than the sum of the parts. A night of music is more than an amp, audience and artists. It's about the experience that everyone takes away.
Live performances are a two way conversation. The band has to strike their chord, together creating something greater than the individual instruments, while reading and drawing in the crowd. The greatest challenge and reward is finding the pulse of the audience. Connecting with the listeners. Sharing the magic and the secret. The energy of the crowd then infuses the performance, creating a one of a kind experience.
I perform in both solo and band settings. I enjoy the camaraderie of a group, but am confident holding a stage on my own.
In the studio, it’s about the art and the craft of music. The art is to find the right part to play for the song. The craft is to play it well and get it right. It requires understanding the overall vision, having an ear for the composition, and contributing to the medley. I also provide over dubbing from either my home or a remote studio.
In addition to instrumental contributions, I offer arrangement, structure and focus insights for works still in progress. Each song has its own essence. Whatever is important stays, what does not do justice to the piece is removed. Its building and connecting all the parts until the form and content are in sync.
